A Halloween night checklist
Candy up high.
Chocolate and sugar-free candy (xylitol) are toxic to dogs. Keep the bowl out of reach, and call your vet if any goes missing.
A quiet room.
A doorbell every few minutes and strangers in masks is a lot, for dogs and cats. A closed door, their bed and some background noise helps.
Costumes that fit.
Nothing over the face, nothing that pinches, off the moment they look unsure. A bandana counts.
ID on, door watched.
The front door opens all night. Check tags and microchip details are up to date, cats included.
Save them a spot.
